Despite increases in the SCT associated with the sale of vehicles and possibly later the revenue earned from the tax on petrol, what are the substantial benefits that we can think of? There are already many challenges owing to the number of vehicles on our roads. Commuting to and from work is little short of a nightmare for many persons. Let's not add to that the condition of the roads that we drive on. Maybe my views are the result of my inability to understand these situations from the vantage point of a layperson. However, I strongly believe that if some kind of SWOT analysis should be conducted, then the results would not be in favour of this initiative.
